St Edith's Church, Coates
Garden Type: Place Of Worship
Description: The grounds, almost one acre, are part of the mediaeval manorial site, bounded by the moat on two sides. Trees surround mowed lawns, a carpet of snowdrops in Spring and haven for wildlife. There is good parking, simple seating and a toilet available by arrangement. The church has an unspoiled mediaeval interior, with stunning rood screen, made into a versatile meeting place by the addition of ample power sockets. The grounds and church are open every day, throughout the year. Events and guided tours must be booked in advance but most visitors come informally, unannounced to seek peace, 'away from it all'.
We do not run quiet days etc ourselves but hos a lovely venue for groups to organise their own event. For this we provide tea/coffee and are there to welcome and host the event. We can also give a lots of information about local, as well as church, history and suggest walks/prayer walks.
