The Chapel of Christ’s Stillness at Moon Cottage Quiet Garden

A wonderful day of celebration was held at Moon Cottage on Friday 6 May when The Chapel of Christ’s Stillness was Dedicated by The Reverend Joy Collins.  The sun shone, all the seats were filled and 31 people sang, prayed and worshipped together in our lovely chapel!  The service incorporated communion, The Gloria and The Lord’s Prayer were sung, five hymns and a blessing composed by our organist The Rev Val Gibbs!  Joy had spent a lot of time drawing up the Order of Service, which was perfect for the occasion.

Cakes and drinks were served in the garden and conservatory afterwards and 4 more guests came after their Fellowship meeting.  It was a memorable event and everyone said how much they were impressed by the chapel and amazed by the beautiful stained glass windows, very carefully and lovingly repaired and restored by Alan and Stephen. These five sets of antique windows, dating from 1864 all came from Holy Trinity Church, Blatchington, Hove which opened in 1864 and closed in 2007, and is now a medical centre, have created so much interest and we are truly blessed that they were meant to be here and have fitted so well into the structure of the building and attached conservatory.  We welcome fellow Christians to come and enjoy the peace and spiritual atmosphere – there has been a chapel on this site for well over 200 years – spacious grounds, gardens, and Prayer Room with accommodation on site, in the chapel, caravan or camping. We are open Monday – Friday from 12-5 pm. Please see our website for all up and coming events.  The chapel is also available for private groups for prayer or worship, subject to availability, guest speakers and clergy welcome..  Garden and Window tours can be arranged for groups.
