The Quiet Garden at the Peterborough Quaker Meeting House in Peterborough
The Quiet mornings are always held on the 2nd Friday of the month starting at 10am and finishing at about 12.30. Please contact Steven Wales at and he will send you the information for the upcoming Quiet morning a few days before the day of the meeting.
Due to Covid restrictions, the Quiet Garden at the Peterborough Quaker Meeting House had to be closed to the public during the times of lockdown in 2020 and so we were only able to offer a few of our monthly Quiet Mornings during that year. However, at the beginning of 2021, the planning group for the garden decided to try an experiment and offer Quiet Mornings on-line for people to attend in their own homes. It was agreed that that the existing format could still work well but that the information sheets containing the thoughts and quotes the leader intended to use should be sent out via email to possible attendees a few days prior to the Quiet Morning to download beforehand. Two experimental zoom on-line Quiet Mornings were held in January and February and were greatly appreciated by those who came. “A touch of normality again” commented someone!
So we have therefore decided to continue to hold these on-line Quiet mornings until such time as restrictions are ended and we can meet together again in person. (The garden itself is now open to visitors again on the understanding that visitors adhere to the Covid restrictions in place at the time of visiting.) As the Quiet mornings are held on-line via zoom, we would like to extend an invitation to anyone who would like to join us wherever they live! So if you are reading this and would like to do so, please contact Steven Wales at and he will send you the information for the upcoming Quiet morning a few days before the day of the meeting.
The themes for our Quiet mornings draw on our Quaker heritage, but not exclusively so, and we endeavour to make sure that people from other church denominations and other faith traditions can feel able to participate fully in what is being offered. The leaders of our Quiet Mornings are sometimes from other traditions and this adds a richness to what we offer. The titles for the mornings held on January and February respectively were “Living Simply” and “Living Adventurously” and we shall continue to explore this range of what it means to live out our faith throughout the year with titles such as “Living Peacefully”, “Living Humbly”, “Living Sustainably”, “Living Equally”, “Living Justly”, “Living Faithfully”, “Living Gratefully”, “Living Truthfully”, “Living Courageously”, “Living with Integrity” or others as the Spirit moves!
We hope you might feel able to join us sometime in our “Living out our faith series” during our Quiet Mornings. You would be warmly welcome.
With greetings from the garden planning group – Steven, Daphne and Linda.
