Garden Description:
The Chapel Gardens are at the heart of the George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton. They were originally designed as memorial gardens in memory of much loved pathologist Sheila Worthington, who worked at the hospital. Over the years they had become overgrown. Some very generous donations from members of the public enabled us to renew the gardens so that they have once again become places of tranquillity, beauty and peace. We also created a new doorway so that patients in beds can be brought outside to enjoy the space.Garden designer Anna McArthur worked with us and with Sid Bibby landscapers to build on the original design but to open up the space in some new ways. Now we are delighted to see the gardens being enjoyed by staff, patients and relatives. Hospitals are anxious and intense places, and this beautiful space is consoling and therapeutic.
