A presbytery had stood on the land for over 100 years, but was pulled down in 2012 as it was a earthquake risk. The St Anne’s community decided to create the garden on the land. To retain the memory of the presbytery building a brick corner of the building remains, the building footprint is shown in the concrete paths and the tessellated tiles that were once in the entrance hall were relaid at the main entrance to the garden. The garden was opened in 2014. There are several seats in the garden as well as various paths. The garden is tended by a group of the church community.
