Lady in a quiet garden

The Parish Church, founded in Norman times, is five minutes from the centre of the old market town of Ulverston. Trees surround the churchyard, where old gravestones mingle comfortably with wild areas and mixed borders. In 2017 and 2018 respectively, the churchyard was the winner and runner-up of Cumbria in Bloom Churchyards Category. God has been worshipped on this site for 900 years; it is a peaceful place in which to wander quietly or sit and rest from life’s busyness. Gardening takes place on Wednesday afternoons.
