Garden Description:
“ Grant us thy peace,Lord, throughout our earthly life,
Our balm in sorrow, and our stay in strife…” hymn by John Ellerton (1826-1893)
Dr Malcolm Clarke and Mrs Joyce Clarke residing at Ystym Colwyn Hall are delighted to
offer their gardens with ‘music in the cottage’ to The Quiet Garden Movement.
Ystym Colwyn Hall is a 19 century built private home in Mid Wales, surrounded by farmland
and set in 4 acres of mature gardens, lawns and over 100 specimen trees.
Exuding peace and tranquillity throughout the seasons, wildlife and birdsong abounds,
whilst many resting places can be uncovered for contemplation.
For all who visit, Rock Cottage, formerly the residence for stable hands, is sited in the rear
courtyard and is open for prayer and silence.
This simple, quiet space now houses an organ loft with an historic 3 manual chamber organ
rescued from a redundant church in Derbyshire. Pipes date from 1742 and the voicing is
from the English Georgian tradition.
Organists are welcome to play the instrument or if you so please, Malcolm will oblige.
It is our pleasure to offer this simple ministry of hospitality and prayer……..we trust that
“ to faithful warriors comes their rest: sweet is the calm of paradise the blest. ”
Dogs and other domestic animals are not allowed in the gardens and should remain in the vehicle during the visit.
Visitors need to be aware that some areas of the gardens have uneven steps and pathways, and appropriate care should be taken to avoid falls or injury.
