Quakers’ Wood is an example of a temperate rainforest with 12 acres of ancient oak woodland with an abundance of lichens, mosses and habitats. It is the home of Rookhow, a Quaker charity with a 300 year old Grade II* listed Meeting House and converted stables Bunkbarn which is a member of the Independent Hostels UK.
Visitor information
Open to the public on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of every month 10am-4pm. Come and wander around the beautiful peaceful woods and join us for homemade cakes and a Quaker meeting at 12.30-1pm. Bring a packed lunch. Volunteer guides will be wiling to show you around the site if you like or you can enjoy some solitude. The yurt in the heart of the woods (with woodburner) will also be open.
