There are two main garden areas. The Guest House Courtyard has a fountain, a central grassy area surrounded by beds of flowering shrubs and flowers, a circular path, and a patio with tables and chairs. The garden south of the Guest House has a labyrinth, bird-feeder and two beds of flowers and shrubs with colour all summer long. There are sunny and shady areas In both gardens. In case of rain, there are plenty of indoor spaces with large windows looking out into the gardens and grounds.

Visitor information

We have 3 or 4 Quiet Garden days each summer.  A description of our Quiet Garden Days may be found on our website. You must register with the Guest House at least a week in advance. All retreats and quiet days at St. John’s Convent take place in the milieu of a contemporary monastic community which has a daily rhythm of prayer. All guests are invited to take part in the daily Eucharist, and those staying overnight may like to join us in the Divine Office (Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer, and Compline).
