Our garden is a safe haven in the heart of the wild environment of Dalby Forest.
Known for its dark skies, the forest also has a visitor centre with a permanent exhibition and café, located half a mile away. It is a place for peace and solitude for walkers, who can marvel at the vast array of birds, insects, plants, trees and animals whilst the more energetic can cycle its marked trails.
Comprising over six acres, the garden offers great variety within its well-defined boundaries. It is possible to ‘lose’ oneself in its many distinct spaces or to sit and meditate on one of the many seats and benches scattered around.
Follow the meandering paths, crossing the bridges that span the lively stream which divides mature woodland from the grassed area and small lake and enjoy the variety of fauna and flora close at hand. Closer to the house are well established herbaceous borders, patios and lawns.
Both a home and retreat space offering holidays and holydays our recently converted Hermitage building offers a loo, a kitchen where guests are welcomed to have refreshments and our chapel.
The chapel offers space for private prayer and meditation. Its truly remarkable feature is its commissioned glass panels which speak of the dance of the Trinity.
Our garden continues to evolve and develop as we seek to create new and diverse experiences.
During the pandemic we created a labyrinth next to the Hermitage on a former tennis court and meditation is encouraged through its sculptures and mural,
‘You shall go out with joy….and the trees of the fields shall clap their hands.’
A polycarbonate dome acts as an observatory for viewing the dark skies and a summer house is an undisturbed reading and writing room.
A wild flower meadow is planned around the totem poles whose carvings speak again of the Trinity.
A booklet of mediations around the garden is available, as are prayer and liturgical resources.
Quiet days and spiritual direction are offered. Please see our website as you will need to book in advance
Individual and group days can be tailored to meet particular preference and need.
Please wear waterproof and sturdy footwear.
Volunteers helpers are always welcome!
We pray that all who visit the garden will be refreshed, restored, and reenergised in finding the blessings of God’s peace afforded by this unique environment.
